The Rental Company staff has shared many amazing weddings over the 2017 year, with many featured here! Robyn is so proud of her staff and the beautiful work that was done over the last thirteen seasons. It will be hard to top 2017 but we are thrilled to see what 2018 has in store for The Rental Company.

A 2017 Recap

There are many wonderful memories I will hold onto as we move into a new year!

One wedding of 2017 that pulls the most at the heartstrings was working with a lovely bride in her retirement. She was marrying after many years of friendship with a man who could relate to her story all too well. The couple had both lost their first loves around the same time. They knew each other from church and had supported each other through their grief. By helping each other through such a hard time, they were able to find love.

I also had the experience of partnering with several families, planners and couples to plan nine Castle Park weddings. This private cottage association on Lake Michigan is steeped in history and a legacy of fun parties and traditions. It was amazing to see how each couple created a unique look for the property.

One of the most gratifying aspects of 2017 was the amazing couples we were trusted to serve in the LGBTQ community! I am extremely proud and honored to be trusted to serve the LGBTQ community for weddings and special events. I am also proud of our Compassion Connection Program that allows us to work with several deserving Non-Profits in the area. This year we will be working with four non-profits through our program!

Looking Forward to 2018

When I look forward to 2018, our 14th season, I think about all of the hard-working, kind and brilliant staff, creative partner vendors, and lovely couples we are so blessed to work with. I’m grateful to have meetings with new prospective clients. And I can’t wait to see what trends, styles, and designs we can be a part of this year. It’s exciting to find that my personal goals frequently match our vision for change at The Rental Company.

Shelbey and I are looking forward to working with all of our couples and event planners this year. We have met amazing couples already and can’t wait to continue the work we love. In addition to your wedding, we also have two staff weddings we get to be a part of this year! Be on the look for more wedding blogs as Shelbey continues her planning journey.

Lastly, I am so excited that the Pantone Color of the Year is finally PURPLE!!! How can anything go wrong this year?

New Changes and Goals

This year is full of staff changes! Our Crew Leader and my son, Luke, is heading out to conquer the
Appalachian Trail. Luke has worked here every summer since I owned the company and I am so proud of his hard work and great leadership.

Additionally, my dear Heather is moving on to a new career at the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. Heather has been with The Rental Company for 5 years and has really made me a better person. I have learned so much from her and am so thankful for her time here. I will miss her editing my emails to make me sound like a much kinder person.

We’re looking forward to adding a new china collection and other rental items for the 2018 season. We are currently revising our brochure and will have some pricing changes so contact or in order to lock in 2017 pricing and get your order on the books.

A great work/life balance is on the goal list for 2018! My involvement in the community is very important so I plan to volunteer with Renew Therapeutic riding center, rejoin the Board of Sylvia’s Place Domestic violence shelter, continue as Board President of Eagle Crest Charter schools and stay active with the Athena Steering Committee. Another part of that goal is to find time to enjoy my horses, chickens, bunnies, cat, and dogs while loving every minute of my work life!!

What are some of your 2018 goals? Or how can we help with your 2018 or 2019 wedding or special event? We’d love to hear from you!
